NABERS OFFICE Environmental Ratings Scheme
Jana Com has recently qualified as an accredited assessor under the NABERS OFFICE environmental rating system for office premises.
NABERS OFFICE incorporates the industry standard Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR) scheme for energy and greenhouse efficiency, and the NABERS OFFICE Water rating designed to complement ABGR with an additional environmental impact measurement for environmentally responsible businesses.
Under the scheme, assessments are completed using a strict validation protocol by accredited assessors. Accredited Assessor status is held by individuals, not corporations. Companies, such as Environmental Automation, who employ accredited assessor’s, are able to offer this service to complement our other services that reduce the environmental impact of our clients built environment.
The Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR) scheme is a national program that benchmarks the greenhouse performance of office buildings by awarding a star rating on a scale of one to five. A building or tenancy with a high star rating will be more energy efficient and cheaper to run, and will result in lower greenhouse gas emissions.
The greenhouse performance of commercial buildings is becoming increasingly important to the wider business community. Energy aware tenants are now asking questions about the energy performance of base buildings. Investors are also becoming more interested in the environmental performance of the buildings they invest in, not to mention reduced life cycle costs.
Energy efficiency also plays a vital role in minimising overheads. Many premises can save 20 to 40 per cent on their energy bills by implementing cost effective energy efficiency practices.
