 In addition to developing its own range of advanced building automation and access control systems integration platforms, EA is a System Integrator for the Tridium Niagara Framework®, a universal software platform that assists with development of Internet-enabled automation, control and energy management systems. Niagara resolves the challenges associated with open systems, with a unified platform that can be easily managed and controlled in real-time over the Internet.
Background
The shrinking cost and increasing capabilities of microprocessors has resulted in the proliferation of smart devices in buildings, machines, homes, cars, and commercial appliances. The growth of the Internet, the move toward energy deregulation, and the aggregation of facilities under a single owner or management company makes interconnectivity and control of diverse devices, including legacy systems, essential as a means to achieving greater operational efficiencies. The lack of standardization among these devices, however, has stood as a barrier to achieving this goal. By providing a cost effective solution for connecting and controlling disparate devices in a unified manner, Niagara unlocks the potential for new services and business opportunities.
Today, there are over 82,000 instances of Niagara operating in over 6,000 installations worldwide in applications that include: energy management, building automation, telecommunications, security automation, M2M, lighting control, maintenance repair operations (MRO), service bureaus and total facilities management.
